I warmly welcome you to St Gerard's school in Alexandra, Central Otago.
St Gerard's is a state integrated school for girls and boys up to Year 8 offering an education with special Catholic Character. The special Catholic Character of our school follows the education philosophy of Catherine McAuley as gifted to us by the Sisters of Mercy.
As a school community we are committed to educating our students through our vision of Love (aroha ai), Learn (ako ai) and Grow (tipu ai).
Our greatest asset is our people - He waka eke noa - a canoe which we are all in together - no exception.

Principal
Kia ora,
We have some children who will participate in orienteering training tomorrow, as these teams have not been named. Please can all children wear sports uniforms and bring a drink bottle.
We will inform the children representing our school next week in the Central Otago zone orienteering tomorrow.
A huge thank you to Rachel Baxter for her time in training the children.
Kia ora,
Teams that qualified for the Central Otago triathlon were asked to complete the permission and transport forms by Friday. This was when entries closed for this event.
Unfortunately, we do not have one whole team with permission and insufficient transport.
It was a short turnaround at a busy time.
We are not able to send any teams to Queenstown this Wednesday.
Thanks for your understanding.
Julie Flannery
Hi Team
It is hard to believe it is Week 7 already. Here is what's on this week.
Wednesday 22 Nov: Mrs Radka will be in Mata-Au as I am on CRT.
Thursday 23 and Friday 24: Harold will be visiting in the Life Education bus. Web will be learning about food and our body.
Friday 24: Assembly 1.45 pm. All welcome. Followed by Buddy Reading and House Groups.
EISTEDDFODS. This term it is singing. Children are to sing a short song they like and they have practised. They can have music with them. Please share this music with me via email. We will be presenting these in Week 9
FYI- Eisteddfods:
Every student in the school takes part in these in the classroom each term and the best 3-6 from each class go to the Eisteddfod assembly held in the last week of each term.
Students are scored during classroom presentations. The scores are used to go toward the Eisteddfod cups year 1-8 at the end of the year. All pupils receive house points for presentations and those who make it to assemblies get an extra 3 points for their house.
Students may use props to support their presentation. The order may change each year to fit in with the Inquiry or best fit with curriculum delivery.
Teachers must collect scores for each term and retain these in order to calculate trophy winners at the end of each year.
Trophies for boys and girls:
Yr 1-2
Yr 3-4
Yr 5-6
Yr 7-8.
Reading & Sounds: Please keep up any practise for sounds and words, and books that your child has to practice. As always, be in touch should you have any questions
Take care
Karen & Sue
